Vier Heemskinderen

Kinderdagverblijf Vier Heemskinderen is part of childcare organisation AVEM and is located at Rondestraat 31 in the centre of Deursen-Dennenburg. In this small-scale setting we provide care for a maximum of twelve children aged 0 to 4. The group is organised horizontally, so babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers are placed in age-specific groups and every child receives the attention that matches his or her stage of development. Our pedagogical vision is laid down in a clear pedagogical policy plan and a location-specific work plan. We closely follow each child’s development and tailor our activities accordingly, creating a continuous developmental line towards primary education. Language development receives extra attention: we play and sing with words, read aloud and encourage children to tell their own stories. We also go outside regularly. The children use the spacious, green outdoor area of the adjacent primary school. There they can build sandcastles, ride our small bikes or simply run and romp while discovering nature. Rest and regularity are central. Each core group has its own fixed group room and there is a separate sleeping room where children can rest. During outdoor play or when we visit the play hall, our pedagogical staff guide the children so that every moment feels safe and familiar. Because we remain small, the atmosphere is homely and clear; parents know who is caring for their child each day and children quickly feel at home.
