Welcome to VeenKids Childcare De Wielewaal, our homely day-care centre in the Petenbos district of Veenendaal. Just like the cheerful Wielewaal bird that was once spotted at Prattenburg Forest, our location radiates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Since 25 May 2020 we have provided care for up to 32 children aged 0–4, divided into horizontal age groups. Under the guidance of coordinator Lieke, our team works every day with passion and love to create a safe environment where children can develop freely. We follow a personal, small-scale approach. Our qualified pedagogical staff ensure that every child feels seen and heard. We use baby signing to stimulate language development and collaborate with Veenendaal Public Library through the Boekstart programme; a storyteller regularly visits to share stories with the children. We also use the ‘Uk & Puk’ method, in which a hand puppet guides daily activities. Everything is done playfully, so children never feel pressured. Outdoors there is plenty of space to explore. Our location features beautiful outdoor playgrounds where children can swing, cycle and play in nature. We organise short excursions in the immediate surroundings and pay great attention to healthy food and exercise. Because we are a public childcare centre, every child is welcome; we celebrate holidays inclusively so that everyone can participate.
