Van Harte Peutergroep Hertje Venlo

Peutergroep Hertje Venlo is a homely toddler group located in the heart of Venlo, on the ground floor of Sint Martinus Primary School at Prinses Beatrixstraat 2. We provide care for up to 16 children from the age of 2. Our bright, safe and inviting space is arranged with different play and development corners: a construction corner where children can build and create, a sand and water area for messy play and experiments, and a cosy reading corner with picture books. We follow a clear daily rhythm that offers structure and calm. Daily rhythm cards help the children understand the day and make their own choices. Each morning starts with a circle time where we sing, dance and tell stories together. Afterwards, children can choose where they want to play. We work thematically; a current theme runs through all our activities. Examples include ‘autumn animals’, ‘my body’ or ‘traffic’. Within these themes we offer activities that stimulate social, emotional and motor skills. Outside we use the spacious playground of Sint Martinus Primary School. Here children can run around, cycle, build sandcastles and play with natural materials. We regularly join the primary school’s reception class for music lessons or story time. These encounters make the later transition to primary school smoother. Peuteraanbod Hertje Venlo is recognised as an Early Childhood Education (VVE) location. This means we use the VVE methodology to optimally support children’s development. Our pedagogical staff are trained in this approach and provide activities that connect with toddlers’ world of experience. We believe it is important that children learn and grow through play in a safe and familiar environment.
