Toverburcht

Welcome to De Toverburcht, our daycare centre located at Meikers 3 in Arnhem-Schuytgraaf. We are part of Skar and work closely with the partners within the Brede School De Salamander. In our homely building we provide care for up to 96 children aged 0 to 4 years under one roof. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming; in our baby groups the children even walk barefoot so they can safely explore the world in a familiar environment. We believe every child is unique and develops best through calmness and routine. Therefore we work with small groups and fixed pedagogical staff. Our baby groups De Dwergjes and De Elfjes are intended for children aged 0-2 years. For children aged 0-4 years we have the vertical group De Kikkers, in which younger and older children play together and learn from each other. The toddler groups De Kabouters and De Uilen accommodate children aged 2-4 years. In addition, we organise toddler work De Schatkist for children aged 2-4 years on weekday mornings from 8.15 am to 12.00 pm. We stimulate language and speech development at an early age using the Puk method. Puk is our puppet who joins the children in activities and helps them understand the world through play. Themes such as ‘Welcome Puk’, ‘Being ill’ and ‘Me and my family’ connect to their world of experience. We are officially recognised for early childhood education (VE) and focus on language, speech and motor development. Outside we have a green, manageable playground which we use every day. Romping in the sandpit, cycling, carrying water and sand: outdoor play is a fixed part of our day. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm. We find it important that parents feel heard and seen. Therefore we have an active parent committee and our staff are always open for consultation.
