Welcome to ’t Schooltje, our small-scale daycare centre located at Voornsehoek 17A in Amstelveen. We provide care for a maximum of twelve children per day in one vertical group for ages 0 to 4. Our homelike building with garden offers a safe and warm environment where children are given the space to truly be children. Our approach is built on two pedagogical foundations. Montessori inspires us in the way we present play materials and support children in playfully and independently discovering the world. We do not believe children should grow up as quickly as possible – let them be children – but we see how much they enjoy experiencing their own successes: “teach me to do it myself”. In addition, we use How2Talk2Kids as the basis for our communication, emphasising talking with and listening to children, because effective communication is just as important as a loving environment. Every day we provide fresh meals, clean bedding and all necessary care products. Parents can flexibly swap days or request extra care. Our pedagogical staff make conscious educational choices and actively involve parents in every developmental stage. Together we work on five core values that help children grow: resourcefulness, perseverance, self-confidence, assertiveness and respect. In short, at ’t Schooltje we give children the best future by offering them a broad range of developmental opportunities in the here and now, in a homely setting with lots of personal attention.
