Kinderdagverblijf ’t Schakeltje is located within Montessori Kindcentrum De Schakel at Cloese 4 in Hoogvliet Rotterdam. We are a daycare center for children aged 0 to 4 years and operate according to the Montessori vision. Independence and self-reliance are central to our approach. Children are given the freedom to discover at their own pace, supported by experienced pedagogical staff. We provide a safe, stimulating and warm environment where children can develop their natural curiosity. For babies and toddlers, the focus is on free movement development, allowing them to learn to roll, crawl and walk without unnecessary interference. Toddlers are encouraged to make their own choices and learn to deal with rhythm and structure within the group. In our homely environment, they have the space to develop optimally both motorically and socio-emotionally. Because our pedagogical staff have completed a VE-Montessori training and work closely with the primary school, we create a familiar and smooth transition to education. For toddlers aged 2 to 4 years, we offer pre-school education (VE), optimally preparing children for the transition to primary school. We work with a rich thematic offering, in which language, motor skills and social skills are developed in a playful way. Because our toddlers use the same materials and methods as the lower grades of De Schakel, the transition seamlessly connects to primary education. Our child center is open 48 weeks per year and offers both morning and afternoon sessions. We work with a fixed team of pedagogical staff including Stephanie (pedagogical coach), Samantha, Suzan, Esther, Dana, Michelle, Angela, Sabela, Kaylee, Kimberley and Patricia.
