't Elfenbankje

Welcome to daycare centre ’t Elfenbankje, a warm and intimate place in the heart of Utrecht, located in the characteristic building of the Vrije School at Hieronymusplantsoen. We are part of Kind & Co Ludens, the largest social childcare organization in the Netherlands, where all proceeds directly benefit your child's development. At ’t Elfenbankje, we work with two vertical groups where children aged 0 to 4 play together and learn from each other. This setup provides a rich learning environment where young children develop through play, and older toddlers learn to care for the youngest ones. Our pedagogical approach is based on Kind & Co Ludens' 'Pedagogical Heart', built on four core values: feeling good and having fun, growing and discovering, providing a rich environment, and being together. Our activities follow the natural rhythm of the seasons. We pay great attention to outdoor play and the sensory development of children. Inside, we work with toys made from natural materials such as wood, wool, and cotton – deliberately not detailed to stimulate children's imagination. We sing songs, bake bread weekly, and work extensively with our hands. These activities contribute to the development of both gross and fine motor skills. Children enrolled at our daycare receive priority placement at Vrije School Hieronymusplantsoen, ensuring a smooth transition to primary education. We are a small-scale location where everyone knows each other, contributing to a familiar and safe environment for your child.
