Stichting Peuterspeelzaal Teddy

Welcome to Stichting Peuterspeelzaal Teddy, located in community centre ‘de Meent’ at Orion 3, Amstelveen. In a homely and secure setting we provide care for up to eight toddlers aged 2 to 4. All children are together in one small horizontal group, ensuring every child receives plenty of personal attention and quickly feels at home. Our spacious play and stay area of 87 m² is arranged safely and recognisably, tailored exactly to the needs of toddlers. Children can independently find their way around and are encouraged to play and go on little adventures. The adjoining 40 m² outdoor space offers ample opportunities for cycling, running and exploring. We follow a structured daily programme that is implemented flexibly. The morning starts from 8:30 to 9:15 with children and parents arriving together. Next we form a circle: we look at pictograms, read a picture book, sing songs or play a developmental game with colours and counting. We regularly work with themes from Puk and Ko. After free play there is a biscuit and drink at 10:00, followed by arts and crafts such as sticking and painting. In between we change nappies and at about 11:15 we sit together for fruit. At 12:00 we sing the goodbye song and parents pick up their children. Our pedagogical staff member Sandra de Gijsel, who holds an SPW diploma focused on children, works together with a regular volunteer. There are always two members of staff present, so every child receives the right guidance. The language of communication is Dutch; for parents who do not speak Dutch there is always a staff member available who speaks English. Special moments such as Sinterklaas, Christmas, the end-of-year party and the annual trip to the petting zoo are celebrated together with all children, even if they do not normally attend on that day. Our working methods are laid down in the Pedagogical Policy Plan, the safety plan and the hygiene plan; all documents are available for inspection in the group.
