Peuterspeelzaal de Eenhoorn has been a familiar face in the heart of Alkmaar for more than 40 years. We are housed in a characteristic 18th-century building at Verdronkenoord 44, where up to 16 toddlers play, learn and discover together every morning. Our permanent team of two qualified pedagogical staff members and one trainee creates a warm, homely atmosphere in which every child is given space to develop at his or her own pace. Everything we do revolves around ‘Play Learn Discover’. We provide a rich play and learning environment in which toddlers are free to make their own choices. The small scale of our playgroup makes it possible to give each child the individual attention he or she needs. We closely follow your toddler’s development and tailor our activities to what the child can handle and finds interesting. Our premises include a gym and an outdoor play area, so the children can move and play in the fresh air every morning. We work with a horizontal group structure: all children are between 2 and 4 years old and are therefore in the same developmental phase. The playgroup is open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 12:30; parents decide on which and how many mornings their child attends. Because we believe that parents and child together are the most important, we welcome parent participation. We regularly discuss how your toddler is doing and listen to your wishes. In addition, we offer early and pre-school education (VVE) for toddlers who need extra support in their development. This way we ensure that every child is well prepared to start primary school.
