Stichting Kinderopvang Michael is located at Julianastraat 22 in Meppel and offers small-scale, anthroposophically inspired childcare. We work from a deep respect for each child’s individuality and create a warm, safe and homely environment where toddlers from 2 years old until kindergarten can grow at their own pace. Our daycare is housed in the same building as the Vrijeschool De Toermalijn, with which we cooperate closely, making the later transition from childcare to kindergarten a familiar and small step. Our pedagogical approach is based on Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophical vision. We follow the unique developmental process of every child and provide structure and rhythm in the daily routine so that children feel secure. We use only natural materials such as wood, wool, silk and cotton. These gently stimulate the senses and foster imagination. In our rooms and on our outdoor area children can play freely, climb, garden and retreat to quiet corners. We devote much attention to seasons and annual festivals; around the seasonal table we experience the natural cycle of the year together. Our group is horizontally organised and accommodates a maximum of 8 children per day. The small group size ensures personal attention and a close, familiar atmosphere. We work with fixed pedagogical staff who know each child well and can meet his or her needs. Parents can choose half or full days of care, tailored to their working hours and their child’s development. In short, at Stichting Kinderopvang Michael we offer a safe, loving place where toddlers can be who they are and where the foundation is laid for healthy, balanced development.
