Stichting Kinderopvang Het Elfenbankje

Since 1990, Het Elfenbankje has provided care and guidance to 16 children per day, aged 3 months to 4 years. We deliberately choose small-scale care: a small group in which there is room to attune to each child and where children can play together in peace. Our location at Tweede Jan van der Heijdenstraat 75 in Amsterdam is the homely nest where children feel safe, can play to their heart’s content and develop. We believe in the inspiring power of nature. There is a beautiful garden where children have every opportunity to play outside and experience nature. We move with the seasons and celebrate the anthroposophical annual festivals. Movement, free play and discovery are the basis for healthy development. From a safe and familiar environment, a child feels free to play and explore the world. Our pedagogical staff care for the children with attention and sensitivity. Familiar faces and a clear basis give the confidence to face the day with enthusiasm. For young children, regular caregivers, in addition to parents, are essential. That is why the teachers work on fixed days, so that the children are always guided by the same people. In this period we lay the foundation for a secure basic trust. Het Elfenbankje offers sufficient activities and play materials that match the age and interests of the children. By being and playing together, they learn to take each other into account. Good contact with parents is important to us, so that the care connects as much as possible with the home situation. Our vision is laid down in the pedagogical policy plan, in which we describe how we optimally support the development of each child.
