Stichting Kinderopvang De Rotterdamse Montessorischool

Stichting Kinderopvang De Rotterdamse Montessorischool provides after-school care (BSO) at Beukelsdijk 51 in Rotterdam. We were created through a partnership between Vereniging De Rotterdamse Montessorischool and our foundation, allowing children aged 4 to 12 to stay in a familiar Montessori environment after school. Since 1 August 2022 we have offered care for up to 174 children, supervised by GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond and registered under LRK number 121248446. On a normal school day the programme starts as soon as the children leave their classrooms. In the base groups we first share tea and a cracker or biscuit together. Children can then choose to sign up for an activity—our popular 6-week ukulele course for example—or select from the daily offer. Options include outdoor play, baking and cooking, Lego Masters, crafts or simply free play in the base group. At the end of the afternoon the children receive a healthy snack and can be picked up between 17:00 and 18:30. During holidays we create a real holiday atmosphere. From 08:10 to 18:30 the programme features sports, creative and cultural activities. We stay close to home in and around our child centre, but we also go on trips to places such as De Speeldernis, the zoo, Kunsthal or the Maritime Museum. Lunch, drinks and snacks are always included and are healthy and varied. Our pedagogical vision aligns seamlessly with that of the Montessori school: freedom, responsibility and respect are central. We like to call ourselves ‘the village school in the big city’—a close-knit community where children feel safe and valued.
