BSO de Bouwsteen

BSO de Bouwsteen is part of Kinderdam and is located in the same building as Special Primary Education De Bouwsteen at Wiekslag 3 in Capelle aan den IJssel. We provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 who attend De Bouwsteen. For these children, rest, safety and individual attention are especially important; therefore we work with smaller groups and a fixed daily structure. Our pedagogical staff are specially trained to meet the specific support needs of the pupils. The after-school care is open Monday to Friday from the moment school ends until 18.30. Each afternoon an activity is offered that fits within a current theme. We always start by chatting about the day’s adventures, after which children can choose to join the themed activity or play freely. Outdoor play is part of our daily routine; for this we use the spacious and green school playgrounds of De Bouwsteen. Creative and sports development are given plenty of room. We regularly work with craft and drawing materials, build with large construction materials and organise sports and movement activities in the playroom or on the playground. We follow a predictable daily schedule so that children know what to expect; this provides calm and confidence.
