Speelgroep Stampertje

Speelgroep Stampertje has been a trusted, small-scale playgroup for toddlers aged 2 to 4 for 25 years, located at Nassaulaan 4 in the heart of Etten-Leur. Our room is situated inside the Anbarg, a senior centre where young and old naturally meet. Every weekday morning from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. we welcome up to ten toddlers in a homely, safe environment. Because we work with two permanent staff members and one volunteer, there is always time for personal attention and we can truly follow each child’s pace. Our goal is simple yet powerful: letting children play together, discover and make social contacts. We offer a varied programme in which both individual play and group activities are central. Crafting, playing games, singing songs and reading books are fixed ingredients of our mornings. When the weather is nice we move the activities outside; our own play area and the nearby garden of the Anbarg invite running, balancing and romping together. A special aspect of Stampertje is the connection with the residents of the Anbarg. Twice a week we pay an informal visit to the seniors. Together we sing songs, do a puzzle or read a book aloud. The encounters are always heart-warming: toddler hands wave enthusiastically back and the eyes of young and old begin to shine. These moments contribute to the children’s social development and give our activities extra meaning. Our team – Ingrid, José, Jolanda, Mieke and volunteer Tonnie – together has decades of experience. We look at what a child can already do and encourage development from there. Saying goodbye at the door, singing in a circle and the closing song ‘There sat a little gypsy girl’ have been familiar rituals for years that provide peace and security.
