SKSG Toverlantaarn Christoffel

SKSG Toverlantaarn Christoffel is a daycare centre located at Rode Kruislaan 73 in the Rivierenbuurt district of Groningen. We provide anthroposophical childcare for children aged 0 to 4, guided by the principles of rhythm, repetition and calm. Our bright, homely building is surrounded by a beautiful natural garden with fruit trees, sandpits, slides and hiding places. All play materials are made from natural substances in soft colours, allowing children to shape their own imaginative play. We serve only organic, vegetarian food without unnecessary additives. Each child is met with reverence and attention to their unique qualities. Babies are cared for by a single familiar educator in a peaceful room using natural care products from Weleda. Rather than following a formal early-education programme, we support development through seasonal stories, daily singing, reading aloud and plenty of outdoor play. We go outside every day, whatever the weather, and celebrate festivals such as Christmas and St John’s together with parents and siblings. The centre has four horizontal groups: two baby groups (0–2 years) and two toddler groups (2–4 years). Every group has its own sleeping area and direct access to the garden. We maintain the statutory staff-to-child ratios and apply a four-eyes principle for safety and social oversight. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 07:30–18:00. Parents are warmly welcomed as partners in their child’s upbringing, supported by an active parent committee and open communication.
