SKSG Rode Pimpernel

Welcome to SKSG Rode Pimpernel, our day-care centre located in the green Beijum district of Groningen. We provide care for babies and toddlers from 0 to 4 years in a homely and safe environment. Our location has 94 places and is housed in a spacious, bright building with large group rooms and a completely renewed discovery garden. This garden is specially designed for the youngest children: there is a separate baby section, tricycles to ride, sand pies to bake and a vegetable garden that is tended together with the children. Outdoor play and discovering nature are an important part of our daily activities. We work with horizontal groups, so babies and toddlers are cared for separately in age groups that match their stage of development. Our pedagogical staff fully align the daily rhythm with that of the babies and offer toddlers challenging activities in a playful way around monthly changing themes. Each child receives plenty of individual attention and benefits from the added value of being part of a group. We follow the VVE programme Startblokken, so that children are already stimulated in their language and cognitive development at a young age. We consider movement just as important as play. That is why children can obtain the Nijntje Movement Diploma with us: a series of lessons in which they discover basic forms of movement in a playful way, from climbing and clambering to dancing and balancing. This contributes to their self-confidence and motor development. We also regularly organise small outings in the immediate vicinity of Beijum. Our day-care is open from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm; extended care from 7:00 to 7:30 am and from 6:00 to 6:30 pm is possible. Nappies and bottle feeding are included, so parents can delegate without worry.
