SKSG Kameleon

Welcome to SKSG Kameleon BSO, located in the modern, sustainable “Het Knikdak” building at Onnemaheerd 6-1 in Beijum, the greenest district of Groningen. Our brand-new child centre provides after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. We work closely with Dom Helder Camara and Tine Marcus primary schools; our staff either walk the children from school or older kids make their own way to us. The moment they step inside, children enter a bright central space built around a kitchen island at two different heights. Three dedicated BSO rooms offer quiet corners and challenging zones: a doll corner for the youngest, a STEM corner with science and technology materials for the oldest, and plenty of room for free play. Children decide where, with whom and with what they want to play; our pedagogical professionals guide and stimulate them. Our activity programme is built on five pillars: Food & cooking, Art & culture, Sport & movement, Science & technology, Nature & sustainability. Together we cook at the large kitchen island, play sports in the garden, run tech projects and go on excursions to the petting zoo, cinema or barefoot path. During holidays we organise extra trips; parents drop off before 10:00 and pick up after 17:00. Healthy food is part of the deal: on arrival fruit, water and tea are ready; later in the afternoon and around 17:00 the children receive another snack and drink. We ask parents to bring healthy treats for birthdays. Our building is energy-neutral and sustainable: solar panels, heat pump, sedum roof and natural ventilation. Outside, children climb, scramble and play sports in the award-winning garden and on the adjacent school playground. BSO Kameleon is open from 07:30-18:00. For 8-13-year-olds we offer the TOP programme (Time for Relaxation and Fun), in which children plan activities independently. We also provide before-school care from 07:30-08:30 and flexible care options. Children feel safe and at home here: familiar faces, a predictable daily rhythm and space to be themselves. That is what matters most to us.
