SKSG De Groene Borg

Welcome to SKSG De Groene Borg BSO, a small-scale after-school care facility for children aged 4 to 13, located inside SWS De Groene Borg at Provincialeweg 55 in Kornhorn. We are open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for a maximum of 22 children in one stable base group, guided by up to two familiar pedagogical staff members. Our experienced team offers a safe, homely environment where every child is free to be themselves and explore the world at their own pace. Our varied activity programme is built around six pillars: Sport & Movement, Cooking & Nutrition, Nature & Sustainability, Science & Technology, Art & Culture, and Hello World! Nature & Sustainability receives extra attention, aligning with the vision of SWS De Groene Borg. Participation is always voluntary; children may also choose to play freely indoors or outdoors, walk from the group room through the corridor to the school playground, or join a tabletop activity. After school we share a drink and a snack together, after which children decide where, with whom and with what they want to play. Fruit, water and tea are available throughout the afternoon. During school holidays and study days we combine forces with SKSG Grootegast to offer an even wider range of activities—think visits to the petting farm, cinema or barefoot path. Our regular staff accompany the children to that location, ensuring familiarity and continuity. We follow a predictable daily rhythm that provides calm and structure while still allowing room for personal initiative. Respect, safety and enjoyment are our core values: children deserve love, space and stimulation to develop socially, emotionally and physically. Parents use the SKSG parent portal for practical matters and stay informed about daily life in the group. Together we make sure every child feels welcome and goes home happy.
