Welcome to Skippy, our daycare centre located at Dorpshuisweg 36 in Harkstede. We are part of Kinderopvang KaKa and provide care for children aged 0 to 4 years in a homely and safe environment. At Skippy, everything revolves around fun, development, and offering a second home where children feel safe and loved. Our qualified staff follow KaKa’s pedagogical policy, which focuses on attention, calmness, and routine. We follow the child’s rhythm as much as possible, especially for the youngest ones. For children under 1.5 years, we align sleep and feeding times with what parents do at home. For toddlers and preschoolers, we use a structured daily schedule with fixed moments for play, meals, naps, and activities. We offer horizontal groups, where children are grouped by age. This creates calm, familiarity, and a safe base. Our spaces are bright, fresh, and furnished with natural materials. We have a large garden where children can run around, bake sand cakes, build huts, and explore what nature has to offer. Outdoor play is a fixed part of the day, as long as the weather allows. There are plenty of activities: we sing together, read aloud, do arts and crafts with various materials, and regularly go on outings to the playground or nearby nature. We work thematically and connect with the child’s world of experience. We also offer early childhood education (VVE), which stimulates language and cognitive development in a playful way, with attention to each child individually. Parents are always welcome. We value parent involvement and organise annual events to which parents are invited. We also use an app to share daily photos and messages, so parents can stay connected with their child’s day. Each group has a fixed contact person, so parents always know who to turn to. At Skippy, we take good care of the basics: diapers, wipes, and bottle feeding are included. We serve healthy meals and snacks, taking into account any allergies or dietary needs. For the youngest children, we have separate sleeping rooms with cribs and beds, where rest and routine are central.
