BSO Skippy is located in the multifunctional centre De Borgstee at Dorpshuisweg 36 in Harkstede. We provide before-school care from 07:30-08:30 and after-school care from the end of the school day until 18:30, Monday to Friday. Our BSO serves children aged 4 to 12 and works closely with Christelijke Basisschool De Ster and OBS Driespan, both housed in the same building. We pick the children up straight from their classrooms, giving parents peace of mind while they work. The centre has two downstairs rooms and four upstairs rooms that are flexibly arranged into five groups. The youngest children (4-5 years) join De Slangen, 5-7-year-olds are in De Dingo’s and De Leguanen, and older children (from 7 years) belong to De Kroko’s. In total we can accommodate 97 children. Continuity is important to us: staff already know the children from our toddler care or day-care programmes. Outside, children enjoy our own enclosed playground with challenging play equipment, a vegetable garden and plenty of space for sports and games. When the weather is nice we eat outside and organise activities such as dodgeball, football and nature walks. Indoors, children can do crafts, build, play games or simply relax in our quiet corner. Our qualified pedagogical staff guide children in their development. We offer a safe, familiar environment where children can be themselves. Activities are tailored to the children’s world and they are actively involved in planning trips and projects. In this playful way they learn to cooperate, think creatively and become more independent.
