Welcome to Sam&minoes, our toddler playgroup right in the historic centre of Deventer. Located at Broederenstraat 16, we share the building with primary school De Windroos so that education, toddler play and after-school care all sit under one roof. Because everyone knows each other, the step from toddler play to primary school – and later to after-school care – feels small and familiar. Our name is inspired by Annie M.G. Schmidt’s story about the cat Minoes who turns into a lady. Just like that curious cat, we set off on playful discoveries every morning. Weekly themes such as ‘Clothes: I want to wear that!’ or ‘Autumn: rustle, rustle’ keep the programme fresh; children learn new words, get creative and let their imagination run free. Outdoor play is part of the day. We use the square for running, climbing and games, or take a short walk through the neighbourhood. Popping into the baker for a quick ‘errand’ is already an adventure; the children experience first-hand how lively and friendly the city is. We combine the safety of a small-scale group with the gentle stimulation of the inner-city environment. Our team consists of qualified pedagogical staff who greet you and your child with enthusiasm every day. We work in horizontal groups: children aged about 2 to 4 are together, allowing us to tailor activities precisely to their developmental stage. Early-years education (VVE) is standard; we follow an accredited toddler programme that boosts language, motor skills and social development, laying a solid foundation for primary school. Toddler play is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 08:30 to 12:00. During school holidays the playgroup is closed so everyone can recharge before we start fresh.
