Prins Maurits

Welcome to Partou Prins Maurits, our small-scale toddler care located right inside the Prins Maurits primary school building on Geessinkbrink in Enschede. Being literally inside the school makes the move from toddler care to group 1 feel completely natural. We run two fixed groups with a maximum of sixteen toddlers per day, keeping everything personal and manageable. Learning and developing through play is at the heart of what we do. We follow the national ‘Extra play and learn’ programme (formerly VVE) and use the Piramide method. This means we work in weekly themes and every week is a new adventure. One week we build rockets and explore space, the next we dive into picture books and practise language and maths through stamping, drawing and singing. We sing lots of songs, make music and move around. Jumping like frogs or climbing over tree trunks in our own playground is simply part of the fun. Our spacious, green outdoor area is a real discovery garden. Children search for craft materials themselves, balance on tree trunks and learn to handle natural materials while playing. Inside we have separate corners: a construction corner, a reading corner and a creative corner where we regularly place new materials. Everything is set up low and safely so toddlers can choose what they want to play with. We start the day with a circle where we tell the children what we are going to do. After that there is free play time and we work in small groups on Piramide activities. At about 10:45 we go outside; that is almost always the highlight of the day. At 11:30 we make music together or read a book. The day ends at 12:00, but half-days are of course also possible. Parents follow the day through our own Partou app. You see photos, read short reports and receive tips to practise at home. Our regular pedagogical staff, Anouschka and her team, are always ready for a chat or a personal tour.
