POV Lyts Yleke de Kogge

Welcome to Lyts Yleke de Kogge, our certified bilingual toddler day-care located at De Dassenboarch 23A in the centre of IJlst. Housed on the ground floor of primary school De Kogge, we welcome up to 12 toddlers per session, offering a safe, homely place to play, learn and grow. Bilingualism is at the heart of our programme. We believe children should feel at home in both Dutch and Frisian, so we work with two complementary methods: Uk & Puk (Dutch) and Tomke (Frisian). Each morning a dedicated professional, fluent in the language of the moment, guides the group so children absorb both languages naturally. We follow the child’s lead in play and tailor activities to individual needs. Through play we practise language, early maths, motor skills and social-emotional development. Our 44 m² group room opens directly onto a private, fenced section of the school playground (405 m²). Outdoor play is part of every day: we run, explore and enjoy fresh air. Indoors, corners with construction materials, a reading nook, a home corner and an arts table provide variety. We work in themes; parents can follow the group via Klasbord and are regularly invited to join a craft or story session. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:30-12:30. Every child has a mentor who closely monitors development and discusses progress with parents, ensuring a smooth transition to primary school.
