Peuterspeelzaal Kleine Jan

Welcome to Peuterspeelzaal Kleine Jan, located at Ommerweg 138 in the heart of Hellendoorn. As part of the Stichting Peuterspeelzalen Gemeente Hellendoorn, we have provided trusted and professional toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 for more than 40 years. In our small-scale, horizontal group of up to 16 children, every child is given the space to grow at their own pace. Our playgroup operates on Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During these mornings we follow a fixed, safe routine in which learning through play is central. We start with a shared moment, after which children can freely choose from various activities such as arts and crafts, building, role-play and exploring our nature table. The pedagogical staff guide language and early math development in a playful way and encourage social skills. At about 10:00 a.m. we eat fresh fruit together and have a drink; bread and toppings are brought from home. We take food allergies and dietary requirements into account. The spacious garden next to our classroom invites outdoor play. There is a sandpit, ride-on toys, a water tray in fine weather and plenty of greenery for hide-and-seek or treasure hunts. In this way toddlers learn to interact with the natural environment while developing their gross motor skills. Peuterspeelzaal Kleine Jan uses the VVE programme ‘Piramide’. This programme supports language, numeracy and social-emotional development through targeted activities and play. We focus on preparing children for primary school without compromising the joy of play. Our experienced staff observe each child carefully and tailor activities to individual needs. Parents experience our playgroup as a warm, manageable place where their child quickly feels at home. We value personal contact: there is time for a chat at drop-off and pick-up, and we regularly share photos and short reports on a parent board. Together we ensure a smooth transition to primary school.
