Peuterspeelgroep Poppejans

Peuterspeelgroep Poppejans is a Christian toddler playgroup for children aged 2.5 to 4 years, located in the primary school building of CBS De Driemaster at De Bagijnenkamp 19 in Hasselt. We are part of Stichting Kinderdagcentra Zwartewaterland (SKZ) and provide small-scale, subsidised pre-school education for up to 16 children per day. Our centre is open Monday to Friday mornings and Monday and Thursday afternoons. We work with a pedagogical policy plan tailored to the developmental needs of toddlers. A location-specific work plan details how we monitor and stimulate each child’s development and how we prepare them for the transition to primary school. Our pedagogical staff guide children playfully in their motor, cognitive, language and social-emotional development using an accredited early childhood education programme focused on language, numeracy, motor skills and social competencies. At Peuterspeelgroep Poppejans we prioritise a safe and secure atmosphere. Children are placed in fixed core groups with a dedicated mentor. The mentor meets regularly with parents to discuss the child’s progress. We give children room to be themselves while preparing them for a smooth move into primary education. Our Christian identity is reflected in the way we interact and in how we convey values and norms.
