Peuteropvang Vrijbuiters is located inside the ‘Brede school De Bijenkorf’ at Gregoriuslaan 46 in Lexmond. We provide small-scale, professional care for up to 16 toddlers aged 2–4 in a bright, spacious room that is completely tailored to the world of young children. The generous play area is arranged with great care so children feel at home right away: colourful corners for building, hiding or quietly reading a picture book, an art table where we craft every day, and a cosy reading nook full of picture books we explore together. Outside there is a safe, green playground with natural materials where the children play at least once a day. We walk to the yard, feel the leaves, look for ladybirds and learn about the world around us through play. Our Early Childhood Education programme is fully aligned with toddler development: we work on language by singing and storytelling, on numeracy by sorting and counting, and on social skills by playing and sharing together. Every toddler has a fixed mentor who is the first point of contact for parents and who continuously observes and guides the child. We work with horizontal groups so children can play and learn with peers. During rest time the children lie in our quiet sleeping room on comfortable beds; anyone who likes may bring a cuddly toy from home. Parents receive daily photos and messages through our parent portal Konnect, so they can follow along and always know what their child has experienced. We have two qualified pedagogical staff members on duty every day, all certified and regularly trained in the field of young children. Together with primary school De Sterrenboog, located in the same building, we work on a continuous line from 0–12 years. This way the school teachers already know our toddlers before they enter Grade 1, making the transition smooth and familiar.
