Peuteropvang Tamarisk

Welcome to Peuteropvang Tamarisk, part of the Integral Child Centre (IKC) De Tamarisk at Canadalaan 2 in Groningen. We provide a warm, safe and stimulating toddler care for children aged 2 to 4. Our location is VVE-certified and uses the Piramide programme, focusing on language, cognitive, mathematical, motor, creative and social-emotional development. Our toddler group is called ‘De Vlindertuin’ (Butterfly Garden). The space is richly equipped with a reading corner, doll corner, arts & crafts and painting area, construction corner, table for sand and water play and a flexible theme corner linked to the current Piramide theme. A mezzanine with slide creates extra play corners. Toddlers are also allowed to use the gym and the construction corner of Year 1-2, always under guidance of our experienced pedagogical staff. A typical morning starts with free play where children choose from challenging materials such as Duplo, puzzles, dolls, books and creative supplies. Next, we invite the toddlers to an activity at the large table: think games, crafts or puzzles. Afterwards, we enjoy fruit and drinks together. We finish with outdoor play on our spacious, green yard with climbing frame, sandpit and sports/play zone. We use a horizontal group structure: all children are 2-4 years old and receive age-appropriate activities. Each child has a fixed mentor who is the contact person for parents and closely follows development through the child-tracking system KIJK!. Twice a year we have extensive progress talks with parents; in between, daily handover moments at drop-off and pick-up are available. Care is fully included: we have child toilets, an adjustable changing table and provide nappies and wipes. Fruit and drinks are included; bread meals can be brought from home. We take allergies and dietary needs into account. Regular excursions to the library, nature spots or football field are organised. Peuteropvang Tamarisk is open Monday to Thursday from 8:15 AM – 12:15 PM. Registration is possible via www.vcog.nl or by contacting our location.
