Peuteropvang Ontdekking

Welcome to Peuteropvang Ontdekking, located at Ooievaarstraat 14 in Kampen. We are part of IRIS Christian Childcare Centres and, within the Integral Child Centre (IKC) Ontdekking, offer a safe, homely place where toddlers aged 2 to 4 can discover and grow through play. Our daycare works closely with CBS De Ontdekking primary school and the after-school care under one roof, allowing children from 2 to 13 years to develop within the same norms and values. We operate with one stable group of up to 8 children. This small-scale approach ensures calm, overview and lots of personal attention. Every toddler is assigned a fixed mentor who is the contact person for parents and closely monitors the child’s development. Our pedagogical staff welcome the children each morning and guide them in activities that match their curiosity and developmental level. The spacious indoor play area (52.4 m²) is situated inside CBS De Ontdekking and is specially designed for toddlers. Colourful corners invite building, playing with natural materials, crafting and exploring. We consciously use themes that connect with young children’s world of experience, such as seasons, animals and emotions. In addition, we use the adjacent outdoor playground daily. The garden offers plenty of space to run, climb, feel sand and experiment with water. We aim to spend at least 20 minutes outside at least once a day so that children can release their energy and learn to appreciate nature. Peuteropvang Ontdekking is linked to the Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme. This means we offer targeted activities that stimulate toddlers’ language development, social skills and independence. We have reading moments, sing songs, use visual and audio materials and provide playful language games. These activities always take place in small groups so that every child has room to learn at their own pace. Parents regularly receive information about their child’s progress and can always turn to the mentor with questions. Our care is aimed at giving children a warm, safe base in which they can be themselves. We celebrate parties together, learn to deal with emotions and practise toilet training. Fruit, drinks and a healthy snack are included. We take allergies and dietary requirements into account.
