Peuteropvang d'Evelaer

Peuteropvang d’Evelaer is located in the heart of the Heemskerkerduin, right in the rural and dune area of Heemskerk. Since 1972, we have been providing toddler care in a small-scale, natural setting. Our centre originated as a neighbourhood initiative and still breathes that warm, communal atmosphere. We work according to the principle of “Nature and Small Scale”. In our own building we have two bright classrooms where two toddler groups are welcomed each morning. Each group has a maximum of fifteen children aged 2 to 4, guided by two qualified pedagogical staff members. This keeps the groups manageable and allows us to give every child the attention they deserve. Our natural playground and small school garden are the pride of our location. Here we sow seasonal vegetables together with the children and discover insects, plants and the changing seasons. Indoors we follow the seasons through themes that connect to the toddlers’ world of experience. Think of searching for mushrooms in autumn, picking flowers in spring or building bird houses in winter. Peuteropvang d’Evelaer offers pre-school education (VE) using the Uk & Puk method. This programme focuses on language and broad development through playful learning. Our pedagogical staff are specially trained to provide extra support for children with developmental delays. Through the Centre for Youth and Family, children can be placed for four sessions a week, giving them a flying start at primary school. In short, at Peuteropvang d’Evelaer toddlers find a safe, rich learning environment where nature, play and development are central.
