Peuteropvang De Schakel

Peuteropvang De Schakel is located on the grounds of primary school De Badde at Ceresstraat 44 in Stadskanaal and is part of Stichting Peuterwerk. We welcome toddlers aged 2 to 4 in a safe, homely setting where learning through play is key. Led by a qualified pedagogical worker and a regular volunteer, we run two small, same-age groups. Every morning begins with a joint circle time. Children then choose freely from play corners and activities. After shared fruit and drinks we offer a guided activity: crafting, singing, dancing or reading a story together. When weather allows we head outside for a walk through the neighbourhood or to feed the rabbits and goats at the nearby petting farm. On rainy days we use the large hall for movement and dance. Our programme is theme-based, yet flexible enough to follow the children’s own interests. Themes such as seasons, animals, traffic and feelings return throughout the year. At least once a year we visit the neighbouring primary school and the reception class children come to play with us, making the eventual transition familiar and smooth.
