Welcome to Peuteropvang de Kleine Reiziger Julianadorp, a warm and small-scale centre right in the heart of Julianadorp where every toddler quickly feels at home. We are part of De Kleine Reiziger, a Christian childcare organisation with locations in Den Helder, Julianadorp and Velserbroek. Our toddler care centre at Middelzand 3502 welcomes up to 16 children aged 2 to 4 and operates horizontal groups only: children of the same age are together so that we can tailor activities and guidance perfectly to their developmental stage. Everything we do revolves around learning through play. Every day is different and offers a fresh chance to discover new things. We work with weekly themes: we take the toddlers on a journey through a new topic each time, within which we craft, sing, tell stories and play outside. Language development receives plenty of attention, as does the children’s natural curiosity. We believe children learn best when they are free to explore and experience for themselves, so we give them all the space they need to move, build, roll and create. Our Christian identity is most visible in the way we treat one another: respectfully, lovingly and with an eye for every child as a unique individual. We start the morning together in a circle, after which the children can choose from a variety of activities. A healthy bread meal is served around noon, with fresh fruit for snacks. At midday there is quiet time: in our separate sleep rooms the toddlers can rest on a bed made up just for them. The garden borders directly on our group room, so when the weather is good we can spend lots of time outside. Sand, water, bikes and climbing equipment invite movement and imaginative play. Parents appreciate our short lines of communication and personal approach: every day you receive a short note about what your child has experienced. We work closely with Prinses Margriet primary school, just a short walk away, ensuring a smooth transition to kindergarten when the time comes.
