Peuteropvang Berkenwoude

Located in the heart of Berkenwoude, right next to the two primary schools, our small-scale Peuteropvang Berkenwoude—formerly known as 't Hummeltje—is a well-known name in the village. We welcome toddlers aged 2 to 4 for two or four mornings each week. While playing, they learn countless new skills, making our programme an ideal stepping-stone to primary school. Each morning we work with one group of up to 16 children. Puk, our puppet, is the children’s role-model; he joins every activity and helps them explore and understand the world. Themes such as ‘Welcome Puk’, ‘Being Ill’ and ‘My Family and Me’ connect with the toddlers’ own experiences. During these themes the children learn concepts like big and small, long and short, and discover healthy eating. They love taking care of Puk with plasters and bandages. Dutch language development is key: shapes, colours, numbers and letters are all introduced in a playful way. Our outdoor play area invites children to run, climb and explore. Through our parent app Konnect we share photos and messages so parents can enjoy every adventure their child experiences with us. We are closed during school holidays and on official public holidays.
