Peuteropvang Joannes XXIII

Peuteropvang Joannes XXIII is located inside primary school Joannes XXIII at Neckardreef 115 in Utrecht. We provide pre-school education (VE) for children aged 2 to 4 years in three horizontal groups: Inktvissen, Walvisjes and Zeesterren. Each group is open four half-days per week and follows themed activities aligned with the primary school curriculum. Play is central to our approach: we believe children learn through play! We offer a language-rich environment using the VE method Up & Puk. Our spacious classrooms have various activity corners and a dedicated toddler playground where children can explore, climb and cycle. We also use the school’s gym and have a special movement kit with fun materials. Every year we organise at least three outings with parents, including visits to the library. We value collaboration with parents. Twice a year we invite parents for a 10-minute meeting and host a weekly parent drop-in session. We encourage parents to actively participate in play sessions and activities. For children aged 2 to 2.5 years we offer ‘VE op maat’, a preparatory group to help them get used to pre-school education.
