Peutergroep Eigen Wijs

Peutergroep Eigen Wijs was a small-scale, private toddler group located in the heart of Benthuizen, at Bentwoudlaan 4. The facility provided care for a maximum of 16 children per day, specifically designed for toddlers aged 2 to 4 years. The group structure was horizontal, meaning children of the same age played and learned together. Founded in 2016 by Vera van der Kroef and Mariëlle Pos, who had been working together since 2010, the group was led by experienced staff with deep roots in the local community. Vera had over twenty years of experience in toddler care in Benthuizen and has since retired. Mariëlle, with a background in social pedagogical support and parent training, brought extensive expertise in child development and family engagement. The daily program was structured yet playful, focusing on activities such as creative play, reading, and social interaction. A dedicated 3+ group provided additional challenges for older toddlers, preparing them for primary school. The facility also offered incidental care for families needing flexible arrangements. As an independent organization, Peutergroep Eigen Wijs was able to respond quickly to the needs of the group and maintain close communication with parents. Regular parent meetings were held to discuss each child’s progress. Unfortunately, the facility closed on 1 August 2024 due to the retirement of one of its key staff members.
