Peutergroep De Vlindertuin is located in the charming, historic coach house of the Sint-Jozef convent at Kerkstraat 69 in Nijmegen-West. We offer a safe, small-scale environment where toddlers aged 2 to 4 can playfully prepare for primary school. Our toddler group follows a recognisable daily rhythm. On arrival, children see pictograms showing the day’s schedule, giving them structure and confidence. We start the morning together in a circle, singing songs and chatting about the weather, birthdays and other stories. Afterwards, children can play freely and take part in creative and educational activities in small groups—think crafts, story time, language games and movement both indoors and outdoors. Every day we go out into our own garden to run, play and explore nature. Pre-school education (VE) is a fixed part of our programme. Using the recognised ‘KIKI kansen voor kinderen’ method, we stimulate development in language, numeracy, social skills and motor skills through play. Kiki the bear also goes home for sleepovers with the children; parents receive a newsletter so they can stay involved in the current theme. Our toddler group has room for up to 12 children per day, guided by two permanent, qualified pedagogical staff members and a trainee. There is no sleeping area; children who still need rest are offered a quiet activity. We use a parent app for daily updates and photos. Parents are always welcome for a chat or a scheduled tour. Peutergroep De Vlindertuin is a public, accredited facility operating under KION. We have a clear settling-in policy and work with parents to decide what suits their child best. Together we ensure every child can move on to primary school with joy and confidence.
