Peutergroep De Schakel

Peutergroep De Schakel is located at Seringenstraat 20 in Kerkrade and, as part of Flow Kinderopvang, is integrated into De Schakel primary school. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 in a safe and stimulating environment where learning through play is central. Our team of qualified pedagogical staff guide the children’s development, paying special attention to language through pre- and early-school education (VVE). We use the VVE programme ‘Speelplezier’. Themes that connect with the children’s world make new words and concepts meaningful. Through role-play, conversations and questions we challenge toddlers to talk and expand their vocabulary. The room is set up with themed corners where children can play and explore undisturbed; staff guide play without directing it. Our care is available for 16 hours per week, spread over 46 weeks per year. Two-year-olds start with two half-days a week; from 2.5 years, when places are available, they can attend four half-days. A fixed daily rhythm offers calm and predictability: free play, fruit time, circle time, outdoor play on the school playground and a bread meal. Close cooperation with De Schakel primary school ensures a smooth transition to group 1. Pedagogical staff and teachers align VVE themes, organise joint activities and arrange warm handovers. Parents are actively involved: for each new theme we invite you to a short meeting so you can use the materials at home. Together we support your child’s development. Our parent app keeps you informed of your child’s experiences and lets you report absences or send messages easily.
