Peuteropvang De Olijfboom

Peuteropvang De Olijfboom is located at Afrikalaan 28B in Utrecht-Kanaleneiland and, together with Al Hambra and De Olijfboom primary schools, forms the Marco Polo Broad School. We provide professional care for toddlers aged 2 to 4 in two horizontal groups: the Red and the Blue Starfish, each welcoming up to 15 children. Our qualified staff create a rich, playful learning environment where toddlers discover the world through play. We use challenging toys and real-life materials in the play corners. Every morning starts with a shared moment of singing and reading aloud, followed by themed play that links to the topics of groups 1 and 2 at Da Costa primary school—think language games, drawing, building and role-play. We have a large, secure outdoor play area that we share with the Kaleidoscoop toddler centre. The garden features a lockable sandpit, a ride-on car track and a shed full of ride-on toys. In fine weather we spend at least half of the day outside. Parental involvement is essential to us. For each theme we organise a parent meeting where we explain our approach and gather your ideas. You receive a theme booklet with new vocabulary and tips for home; we round off the theme with a festive children’s activity. Our staff regularly train alongside the teachers of groups 1 and 2, covering subjects such as early mathematics and the development of the young child. This ensures a smooth transition to primary school. Peuteropvang De Olijfboom is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 08:30 to 11:30. Additional days are possible if there is sufficient demand.
