Welcome to Peuteropvang De Schakel, located at Sandelingplein 25 in Rotterdam. From our Christian identity we connect with our community, where every child is welcome and feels welcome. We provide development-focused toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 years in a safe and familiar environment. Our toddler care is part of De Schakel primary school, ensuring seamless integration between care and education. We use a rich thematic approach in which language, motor skills and social skills are developed in a playful manner. By using the same materials and methods as the school's early years, including Startblokken, the transition to group 1 is smooth and familiar. Toddlers have plenty of space to play and discover at our facility. We have set up challenging play areas where children can play alone or together. Each day follows a regular rhythm so toddlers know what to expect. Our pedagogical staff guide children in their play, encourage independence and help them make choices. We regularly organize trips to the petting zoo and work in our school gardens, ensuring learning takes place both indoors and outdoors. For toddlers with an early childhood education (VVE) indication, we offer additional support in language development. These children can participate in our program three or four half-days per week. We actively involve parents in their child's development: for each new theme we organize a meeting to discuss materials that can also be used at home. Together we work towards optimal preparation for primary school.
