"Learning from each other and growing together" – that is what Peuteropvang Symfonie stands for. Our location is situated in the multifunctional community centre Symfonie in Tilburg-Noord. The building also houses primary schools, childcare centres and a youth centre, making our toddler care a unique place for continuous development. Children learn from one another and always stay close, even when they move on to primary school. Although we are located in a large, multifunctional building, our centre feels warm and cosy. We have two classrooms – Djembé and Bongo – where children play, learn and have fun in small groups of up to 16 children. This allows our pedagogical professionals to give every child the attention they deserve. All team members are familiar faces, as the children regularly play together. At Peuteropvang Symfonie we help children develop without them noticing – they learn through play. Our location supports this: our toddlers play with children from other childcare organisations in the building and with pupils from the primary schools. This makes the transition to primary school easier and helps children make lots of friends in the neighbourhood at a young age. In a challenging environment, toddlers are playfully prepared for primary education, with self-discovery at the heart of our approach. To achieve this, the team uses the educational programme Startblokken. All staff at Peuteropvang Symfonie have completed VVE training (pre- and early-school education) and our centre is VVE-certified. Because our childcare is located in the same building as two primary schools, toddlers quickly become familiar with their potential future school environment. Our centre offers many play and exploration areas, both indoors and outdoors. Indoors, there are various themed corners to keep children engaged all day – building, reading, playing in the home corner – we recreate the "real" world as much as possible. During our daily circle time we practise language through talking, singing and reading. Outdoors, we have a large garden with different discovery spots. Children build sandcastles in the sandbox, slide down the slide or explore among plants and flowers or walk barefoot on the sensory path. We also have plenty of materials to learn cycling, climbing and clambering. Being active and learning unnoticed is our priority! Peuteropvang Symfonie feels like a second home for all of us!
