Peutercentrum 't Zand

Welcome to Peutercentrum ’t Zand, located inside Brede School Het Zand at Pauwoogvlinder 20 in Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. We provide toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 in a vibrant, multicultural group that mirrors our neighbourhood. Our programme centres on learning through play within a warm, secure environment. We follow the Dutch Early Childhood Education curriculum (VVE), using themes that connect with each child’s world. While focusing on Dutch language development, we always respect every child’s home language. Children practise independence: putting on coats, spreading sandwiches and making choices. Playing, tidying up and having fun together are at the heart of our toddler group. The room is arranged into corners that replicate real life. The home corner holds real cups, plates, phones and computers. The art studio invites children to craft with freely chosen materials. The reading corner—also our circle-time spot—offers quiet moments with books and read-aloud sessions. In the construction corner, children build with Duplo, Lego and real tools. We encourage them to tidy up themselves, fostering a sense of ownership. Beyond indoor activities, we often venture out: visiting the library or taking trips linked to the current theme. We join the annual Nature & Culture Day and the Children’s Book Week together with the primary school in our building. Peutergym, theatre performances and workshops are also on the agenda. Peutercentrum ’t Zand is part of Brede School Het Zand. We collaborate closely with OBS Het Zand and the after-school care to ensure a smooth transition to primary school.
