Joriaantje

Welcome to Smallsteps Joriaantje, our cozy daycare center located on the green GGZ Delfland grounds on Sint Jorisweg in Delft. Surrounded by quiet playgrounds and historic facades, we are just a stone's throw from the city center. At Joriaantje, everything revolves around "Growing in Green": children play outside a lot, explore the park, and regularly visit the petting zoo on our grounds. We believe there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing – that's why all children have raincoats and boots, so we can go outside even when the weather isn't perfect. Inside, we bring nature to us. Together we care for our fish and stick insects, and make delicious soup from home-grown vegetables and herbs. Puppet theater can of course also take place outside! Our activities focus on discovery, cooperation, and enjoyment – of the outdoors, of each other, and of the seasons. We always say: "If you want to take a clean child home, Smallsteps Joriaantje isn't the right place for you!" But you will get back a happy, tired, and satisfied child full of new impressions. Our location is small-scale and homely, with lots of attention for each child. We work in vertical groups, where children of different ages play together and learn from each other. This way, toddlers learn to help feed a baby, and the youngest learn from the older children. We find it important that children feel safe and secure, so they can develop optimally.
