Welcome to Oya’s Childcare Obrecht, located in a spacious building at Jacob Obrechtstraat 26 in the heart of Amsterdam-Zuid, right next to the impressive Obrecht Church. At this location we offer daycare for children aged 0 to 4 and a small-scale after-school care for 4- to 6-year-olds. With a maximum of 44 places in the daycare we work in clear, age-homogeneous groups so that every child receives the calm and attention it deserves. Our pedagogical vision revolves around cherishing the daily miracles of childhood. We combine up-to-date developmental knowledge with common sense and create an environment in which children feel emotionally and physically free to explore the world. Play is our most important learning tool: from singing with funny musical instruments to yoga exercises, from reading picture books to creative craft projects. Each activity is carefully tailored to your child’s age and developmental stage. Structure and rhythm give children peace of mind. That is why we follow a recognisable daily routine that starts with free play and an extensive fruit moment, followed by a circle talk with pictograms. Next we start an activity such as music, language games or sensorimotor exercises. Around 11 a.m. we go outside into our safe, enclosed garden for sports and games that stimulate gross motor skills. After a warm, organic meal – freshly prepared by our regular caterer Madaga – it is time for rest or an afternoon nap. In the afternoon a rich programme of activities awaits: more outdoor play, reading, building and discovering. We finish with a nutritious soup and free play until 6:30 p.m. Throughout the day our pedagogical staff – affectionately called ‘nannies’ – are continuously present to guide, comfort and stimulate your child. Warm meals, fresh fruit and healthy snacks are included, so you can work without worry while your child explores with us.
