Welcome to BSO Onyx, our warm after-school care in the heart of Rotterdam. We are located on the first floor of the school building at Nieuwstraat 15, right in the bustling city center. As part of gro-up childcare, we provide a safe and challenging place where children aged 4 to 12 can develop after school hours. Our pedagogical staff pick up children daily from Willibrord School and Jan Prins School. Children are welcomed at the outdoor playground by recognizable gro-up staff. From group 4 onwards, children may come to our space independently, but individual arrangements are always possible. We work with permanent staff who know the children well and create a familiar environment. Our location features a cozy group room with adjacent play hall where children can play, relax or participate in activities. We use the gymnasiums within the building and have access to the school playground at the front. Unique is our rooftop terrace on the top floor, accessible via stairs, where children can play and move in the fresh air. We regularly organize sports and movement activities in these spaces. After school, children first get a moment of rest with a cracker and water. This eating moment is an important transition where children can share their stories and switch from school to after-school care. We ask open questions and make space for what's on the children's minds. Afterwards, children can choose from various activities or free play. We provide care on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 14:30 to 18:30. On Wednesday we are open from 12:00 to 18:30. During study days and school holidays, we collaborate with BSO Smaragd, where care is provided from 07:30 to 18:30. We keep parents informed through our parent app and newsletters. Collaboration with parents is very important to us. We communicate daily about how the children are doing and discuss fun or exciting moments. Through the gro-up parent portal, parents can register and deregister their child, request extra care and manage permissions. We are always open to questions and ideas from parents.
