Freekids Okido

Welcome to KDV Okido by Freekids, located at Lagedijk 61 in the heart of Zaandijk. We provide childcare for children aged 0 to 4 in a homely and safe environment where every child is given the space to develop at their own pace. Our location follows the pedagogical policy of Freekids, based on the principles of Emmi Pikler. This means we offer attentive care, allow room for free play, and ensure calm and structure throughout the day. We use horizontal grouping, where children are placed in age-specific groups. Babies and toddlers are cared for separately from preschoolers, allowing us to tailor activities and care to each child’s developmental stage. The daily routine is calm and predictable. We start the morning with a welcome ritual, followed by free play, a shared activity, or time in our spacious outdoor area. Children sleep in a separate bedroom with their own bedding. We believe it’s important for children to rest in a familiar environment so they can continue playing and exploring with renewed energy. Our professionals are consistent caregivers. Each child is assigned a dedicated pedagogical staff member to build a secure attachment. In case of absence, we arrange a substitute who is already familiar with the child or is well-briefed. We also have a mentor who monitors the children’s development and supports parents with questions or concerns. We communicate with parents through the Kindplanner app. Each day, we share a message with a photo of a special moment. Parents can also use the app to request extra or swap days and to notify us if their child will not be attending. We value parental involvement and aim to keep parents well-informed about their child’s experiences. KDV Okido is a place where calm, space, and attention are central.
