Welcome to KDV Nieuwenoord, a childcare centre operated by Mundo Kinderopvang in the green ‘Oorden’ neighbourhood of IJsselmonde, Rotterdam. Our beautifully renovated building is home to 52 children aged 0 to 4. We follow an ‘open-door policy’: outside fixed group times the doors of our three groups remain open, allowing children to choose freely where and with whom they play. In this way they learn from every age and discover the world together. Every six weeks we introduce a new theme that matches the children’s world of experience. Babies enjoy baby gym and sensory sessions, while toddlers engage in storytelling, crafts, cooking and nature activities. Our garden is not a standard playground but an adventurous terrain with plants, branches, mud and insects where children can romp, explore and even run a small errand to the greengrocer. In 2014 we received the ‘Green Childcare’ Quality Mark. Mundo’s Activity Team visits regularly to provide sports and games, nature education and creative workshops. Parents can join our active parent committee and we also offer toddler care/pre-school. Feel free to make an appointment for a tour.
