Nanny Poppins

Welcome to Nanny Poppins at Middenweg 107 H in Amsterdam. We are a small-scale daycare centre where up to 28 children aged 0 to 4 years find a safe second home. Everything we do is built on the power of intimate, home-like care: cosy groups in which children can simply be themselves and grow up at ease. Our location runs two vertical groups: a baby/toddler group for 0–2 years and a toddler/preschool group for 1–4 years. This structure lets children grow from youngest to oldest within the same familiar setting, learning what it means to help one another and to develop social skills just like at home. Our pedagogical staff practise a positive, sensitive approach. They are trained to notice and respond appropriately to every child’s signals, ensuring each child feels seen and heard. Care routines are play routines: nappy changes, meals and naps become moments of connection through songs, sound games and tender interaction. For the very youngest, emotion-focused contact play is central. Babies are given space to discover, grasp and explore objects, always with an adult who shares the experience. Toddlers and preschoolers in our older group work on independence and a sense of time through play. We use daily-rhythm cards in circle time so children know what comes next and learn to handle structure, gently preparing them for primary school. Our rooms are stocked with age-mixed materials. Children choose what appeals to them: the home corner for role-play, building a real shop together with friends of different ages, or quietly browsing a book.
