Mundo De Singel

Welcome to KDV de Singel, our daycare centre located at Singel 5 in the heart of Schiedam. We are part of Stichting Mundo and provide care for children aged 0 to 4 in a warm, homely environment. Our vertical group concept means that babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers play and learn together; the youngest can mirror the older children, while the older ones develop caring skills and a sense of responsibility. Every six weeks we explore a new theme that connects to the children’s world—seasons, animals, traffic or emotions, for example. For each theme our pedagogical staff design daily age-appropriate activities: singing and reading for babies, arts and crafts or role-play for toddlers, and everything in between. This way every child is continuously challenged and stimulated in his or her own development. Mundo’s special Activity Team also visits regularly to offer workshops in art, culture, nature, sport and play. Children might paint with real colours, meet a small animal up close or join a music lesson. Outside we have a spacious, green playground where children can run freely, cycle, build sandcastles or explore our nature garden. We believe fresh air and experiencing the seasons are important. When the weather is nice we eat outside and even nap outdoors in our comfortable prams. Inside there are quiet sleeping rooms with individual cots so every child has a familiar place to rest. We follow fixed care routines that match the rhythm of home as much as possible. Flexible hours allow parents to book half or full days, whatever suits the family best. Our team consists of experienced, qualified pedagogical staff who see, hear and follow every child. We use Mundo’s Early Childhood Education programmes to stimulate language, numeracy and social skills through play. We also value close contact with parents: we discuss each child’s day, share photos and stories, and organise regular parent mornings. Together we ensure that every child feels safe, happy and challenged at KDV de Singel.
