Welcome to Mijn Blokje at Van Suchtelen van de Haarestraat 209A in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Our daycare centre is housed in a spacious and bright building fully tailored to the needs of children aged 0 to 4. We provide care in horizontal groups, separating babies and toddlers from preschoolers. This allows us to align activities, rest periods and care exactly with your child’s age and developmental stage. Our team of experienced pedagogical staff follow the Early Childhood Education programme ‘Startblokken’. This programme focuses on language, numeracy and social-emotional development through thematic activities, story time, singing and movement. We believe children learn best through play, so we offer daily activities such as arts & crafts, music, dance, cooking and outdoor play in our own garden. We also take regular trips to the nearby Osdorp shopping centre or the park. For the youngest children we have separate bedrooms with cribs and baby monitors. We follow the home rhythm as closely as possible and align feeding and sleeping times with your child’s routine. We provide nappies, wipes and formula on request. For children with allergies or special dietary needs we work together with parents and, if necessary, a dietitian to create a suitable menu. Safety and hygiene are paramount. The site has an electronic access system and all staff hold a valid first-aid certificate. We work with a parent committee and hold parent consultations to discuss your child’s development. You can enrol your child for half or full days, depending on your needs.
