Mierennest

Mierennest is a preschool for children aged 2 to 4, located in community centre De Wending at Raamstraat 67 in Delft. We are part of Stichting Delftse Peuterspeelzalen, an organisation with over 40 years of experience in guiding young children in Delft and the surrounding area. Our classroom is spacious and bright, with a private entrance that is easily accessible for parents and children. Next to the community centre lies Westerhonk playground, which our children use daily to play and explore outdoors. We use a horizontal group structure, where children of the same age are together in one stable group. This provides calm and familiarity, and allows us to tailor activities to the developmental stage of the children. Our pedagogical staff are specialised in guiding toddlers and offer a safe and stimulating environment in which children can develop through play. We place great emphasis on language development and work with Early Childhood Education (VVE), so that children with a language delay receive extra support. At Mierennest, everything revolves around learning through play. We regularly go on excursions in the immediate vicinity, such as to the park or the petting zoo. Outdoor play is an important part of our programme: in the Westerhonk garden, children can run, climb, build sandcastles and discover what nature has to offer. We offer half-day care, spread over two or three sessions per week. This gives children the calm and routine they need at this age, while also making the transition to primary school much easier. After placement at Mierennest, your child can move on to any primary school in Delft. We work together with parents and schools to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible.
