SKSG Merdeka

Welcome to SKSG Merdeka, our day-care centre at Molukkenstraat 1-2 in the heart of the Indische Buurt. We provide care for children aged 0 to 4 in a green, safe setting right next to Molukkenplantsoen park. The child is always at the centre of everything we do: we follow each child’s individual needs and give them room to be themselves. Our groups are organised horizontally. The baby group “Bayi” (0-2 years) has a maximum of 12 children and is inspired by Emmi Pikler’s approach: rest, regularity, space and respect are key. The toddler group “Lunau” (2-4 years) accommodates 16 children and uses the VVE programme Piramide. Toddlers receive at least 960 hours of pre-school education, spread over 16 hours a week. Themes are aligned with local schools and playgroups to ensure a smooth transition to primary school. Outdoor play is just as important as indoor activities. We spend time every day in Molukkenplantsoen, making the most of the natural play and exploration opportunities. Our qualified staff create an open, honest atmosphere in which every child feels safe. We truly observe and listen to the children, whether they need an extra cuddle, an early bottle or a quiet moment. We apply a Dalton-inspired approach: freedom of choice, cooperation and independence are central. Children decide where they play, what they discover and how they develop their talents. Our spacious, challenging play corners invite creative and motor play. We serve warm meals, fresh fruit and healthy snacks; special dietary requirements are discussed with parents. Nappies, wipes, formula and care products are all included. SKSG Merdeka is open every weekday from 7.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Half-day care is possible and parents can purchase flexible or extended care.
